Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of the JoyRidr platform. They are written in plain language. If anything is unclear, email us at [email protected] and we will explain it.

Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you and JoyRidr Inc. ("JoyRidr," "we," "us," or "our") governing your access to and use of the JoyRidr platform, including our website at joyridrclub.com, all related subdomains, and any associated services (collectively, the "Platform").

By creating an account, joining the waitlist, or using any part of the Platform, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you must not use the Platform.

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated by email and by updating the "Last Updated" date above. Your continued use of the Platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years of age to use the Platform. By creating an account, you represent and warrant that you are 18 or older and have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement.

The Platform is available to residents of the United States and Canada. We do not represent that the Platform is appropriate or available in other jurisdictions.

JoyRidr reserves the right to refuse access to any person at any time, for any reason, at our sole discretion.

Membership & Accounts

Path A (Browse-First) Membership

You may register with your email address to join the waitlist and, after platform launch, browse the full asset directory. Path A members cannot book assets. A persistent invitation to upgrade to full membership is available at all times.

Path B (Full Club) Membership

Full club membership requires completing the entire onboarding journey: email registration, profile completion (name, phone, address, and profile photo), government-issued identity verification via Stripe Identity, addition of a valid payment method, and submission of at least one recreational asset that receives admin approval. You must have at least one approved asset to use credits for booking. Members with zero approved assets may still book using cash.

Founding Member Program

The first 100 users to complete the full Path B journey with at least one approved asset qualify as Founding Members. Qualification is determined by order of completion, not order of signup. Founding Members receive lifetime free membership and are never charged annual subscription fees, though they must still provide a valid payment method during onboarding. Founding Member status is indicated by a badge on your public profile.

Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must notify us immediately at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

Account Suspension and Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violations of these Terms, fraudulent activity, repeated booking cancellations, unresolved disputes, or any conduct we determine to be harmful to the community. Upon suspension, all your assets are immediately hidden, and you cannot book other assets. Active bookings are handled case-by-case at admin discretion, with full refunds issued to the other party where appropriate.

Identity Verification

Full club membership (Path B) requires government-issued identity verification conducted through Stripe Identity. You must provide a valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID. JoyRidr does not receive or store copies of your government ID — this data is processed and retained by Stripe in accordance with their terms and privacy policy.

Providing false, expired, or fraudulent identity documents is grounds for immediate account termination and may be reported to relevant authorities.

Subscriptions & Pricing

Annual Membership Fee

Full club membership is billed annually at $495 USD or $595 CAD. Your currency preference is auto-detected based on your location and may be changed in your account settings at any time.

Waitlist Discount Tiers

During the waitlist phase, membership is offered at variable discounts (up to 75% off) that decrease over time. Your discount tier is permanently locked at the moment you add your payment method during onboarding. Once locked, your discount tier does not change regardless of when the platform launches.

Launch Day Billing

When JoyRidr transitions from the waitlist phase to full launch, all stored payment methods will be charged at each member's locked-in discount rate. Founding Members are exempt from this charge. If your payment fails at launch, you will receive an email with a 3-day grace period to update your payment method. If payment is not completed within the grace period, your locked discount is forfeited and you must repurchase membership at the then-current price.

Auto-Renewal

Memberships auto-renew annually. You may manage or cancel your subscription at any time through the Stripe Billing Portal accessible from your member dashboard. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period.

Membership Expiry Grace Period

If your annual membership payment fails at renewal, you have a 5-day grace period to update your payment method. If payment is not completed within the grace period, your account is suspended: your assets remain visible but are unbookable, unspent credits are forfeited, and you cannot book other assets.

No Platform Commission

JoyRidr does not charge any commission or platform fee on bookings. Revenue comes exclusively from annual membership subscriptions. Only Stripe payment processing fees apply to transactions, and these are absorbed by the host, not passed to the guest.

Credits & Booking

Annual Credit Allocation

Each Path B member receives 24 credits per year (1 credit = 1 night). Credits reset annually on your membership anniversary date and do not roll over. Credits are forfeited if your membership lapses or your account is deleted.

Credit Eligibility

Credits may only be used by members with at least one approved, published asset. If you unpublish or delete all your assets, credit usage is disabled until you have at least one approved asset again. Cash booking remains available regardless of asset status.

Booking Hold

When you select dates for a booking, a 30-minute temporary hold is placed on those dates to prevent double-booking. If payment is not completed within 30 minutes, the hold expires and the dates become available to other members.

Instant Confirmation

All bookings are confirmed instantly upon payment. No host approval is required.

Advance Booking

Members may book assets up to 90 days in advance.

Cash Booking

All members may book any asset using cash at the host's listed nightly rate multiplied by the number of nights, plus applicable fees. Cash booking does not require approved assets.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellation terms depend on how far in advance the booking was made at the time of cancellation.

Last-Minute Bookings (0–7 days advance notice): A 12-hour grace period applies from the time of booking. After the grace period, the booking is non-refundable.

Short Advance Bookings (8–30 days advance notice): A 24-hour grace period applies. After the grace period, a 50% credit refund is issued if the cancellation occurs more than 7 days before the booking start date. Cancellations within 7 days of the start date are non-refundable.

Long Advance Bookings (31–90 days advance notice): A 48-hour grace period applies. After the grace period, a 75% credit refund is issued if the cancellation occurs more than 14 days before the booking start date. Cancellations within 14 days of the start date are non-refundable.

Full Refund Exceptions

A full refund is granted regardless of the above policy in the following circumstances: official severe weather warnings affecting the booking location or travel route; mechanical or equipment failure of the booked asset; host unresponsiveness for 24 or more hours prior to or during the booking; asset unavailability or material misrepresentation upon arrival; documented medical emergencies; and natural disasters affecting travel. Documentation may be required.

Host Cancellations

Hosts may cancel bookings only for valid documented reasons, including medical emergencies, natural disasters, mechanical breakdowns, or property damage. Guests always receive a full refund for host-initiated cancellations. Repeated host cancellations without valid documentation will result in membership review and may result in account suspension.

Money-Back Guarantee

A 100% refund of your annual membership fee is available within 30 days of your first completed booking if you are not satisfied. This guarantee is one-time use per account and is processed manually by our team via Stripe. Following a refund under this guarantee, your account will be suspended and all assets unpublished.

Asset Listings

Listing Requirements

To list an asset on JoyRidr, you must be the legal owner of the asset or have explicit authorization from the owner. You must provide accurate information including title, description, category, location, photos (minimum 3, maximum 20), estimated value with supporting documentation, nightly rate, capacity, and booking duration constraints.

Asset Categories and Age Limits

JoyRidr supports six asset categories. Age limits apply as follows: Static Accommodations (no age limit); Mobile Accommodations such as RVs and trailers (maximum 15 years); Watercraft — boats and yachts (maximum 20 years), jet skis (maximum 10 years); Vehicles (maximum 10 years, or classic vehicles 25 years or older); Adventure Equipment (maximum 10 years); Unique Experiences (not applicable).

Asset Tiers

Assets are classified into two tiers during admin review: Tier 1 for assets valued at $75,000 or more, and Tier 2 for assets valued under $75,000. Tier classification is determined by our admin team based on your submitted value documentation.

Admin Approval

All submitted assets are subject to admin review within 48 hours. We reserve the right to approve or reject any asset at our sole discretion. Rejected assets will receive feedback explaining the reason for rejection. Assets remain in a pending state and are not bookable until approved.

Asset Editing

Any edit to a published asset, regardless of how minor, returns the asset to a pending review state. The asset remains visible on the platform but is not bookable during the re-review period.

Sharing Obligation

By listing an asset, you agree to make it available to other members for a minimum number of nights per year based on your asset's category. Estimated sharing obligation ranges are: Static Accommodations 10–20 nights; Mobile Accommodations 15–25 nights; Watercraft 10–20 nights; Vehicles 20–30 nights; Adventure Equipment 15–25 nights; Unique Experiences 10–30 nights. Only credit-based bookings count toward your sharing obligation. Exact obligations are confirmed during asset approval.

Availability Calendar

Each asset defaults to "blocked" availability (all dates unavailable until you open them). You may change this default to "open" availability at the asset or account level.

Asset Import

You may import existing listings from supported external platforms (Airbnb, Vrbo, RVShare, Outdoorsy, RVezy, Boatsetter, GetMyBoat, and Turo) by pasting a listing URL. Unmodified imports are eligible for automatic approval. Any modification to imported data, however minor, flags the asset for manual admin review.

Fees & Host Payouts

Hosts may set their own additional fees per asset, including cleaning fees, fuel fees, and insurance fees. These fees are collected by JoyRidr via Stripe at the time of booking.

JoyRidr holds all booking fee funds until 24 hours after the booking start date. This holding period provides guests an opportunity to report issues upon arrival — including asset misrepresentation or unavailability — before funds are released. After the 24-hour window, funds are released to the host via Stripe Connect.

Stripe payment processing fees on all transactions are absorbed by the host. JoyRidr does not subsidize or pass these fees to the guest.

Disputes raised after a payout has been processed are handled as clawbacks through Stripe at our discretion.

Reviews

After a booking is completed, both the guest and the host are invited to leave a review consisting of a 5-star rating and a written comment. Reviews are submitted independently. Both reviews become visible simultaneously — either when both parties have submitted their review, or after a set time window expires, whichever comes first.

Reviews must be honest, accurate, and based on your direct experience. Reviews that contain false statements, harassment, discriminatory language, or personal information about other members may be removed at our discretion.

Reviews are retained as part of the platform's trust record. If your account is deleted, your reviews remain visible in anonymized form attributed to "Deleted Member."

Disputes

Members may raise a dispute through the Platform for issues including asset misrepresentation, host or guest misconduct, damage claims, or cancellation disagreements. Disputes must be raised through the in-platform dispute system.

Our admin team will review all disputes, contact both parties, and issue a final resolution. Admin decisions on disputes are final. We reserve the right to cancel bookings, issue refunds, suspend accounts, or take other corrective action as part of dispute resolution.

JoyRidr is not responsible for resolving disputes that arise outside the Platform or that are not reported through our dispute system.

Member Conduct

By using the Platform, you agree to treat all other members with respect and to use the Platform only for its intended purpose — the exchange of access to recreational assets within the JoyRidr community.

You must not use the Platform to: misrepresent your identity or your assets; engage in fraudulent bookings or transactions; harass, threaten, or discriminate against other members; circumvent the Platform's booking or payment systems; scrape, copy, or redistribute Platform content without authorization; or violate any applicable law or regulation.

JoyRidr is a private exchange club, not a rental marketplace. No cash is exchanged between members for nightly stays. All bookings are facilitated through the credit and cash systems described in these Terms.

Account Deletion

You may request account deletion at any time by contacting us at [email protected]. Upon deletion: all your assets are immediately unpublished and hidden; active bookings are cancelled with full refunds issued to the other party; past bookings and reviews are retained in anonymized form; your personal data is deleted within 30 days; unspent credits are forfeited with no refund; and your email address is retained in hashed form to prevent re-registration abuse.

The 30-day deletion window provides a buffer for in-progress disputes and potential account recovery. If you change your mind within 30 days of requesting deletion, contact us and we will attempt to restore your account.

Intellectual Property

All content on the Platform that is not user-generated — including the JoyRidr name, logo, design, software, and written content — is owned by JoyRidr Inc. and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from our content without our express written permission.

By submitting content to the Platform — including asset photos, descriptions, and reviews — you grant JoyRidr a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use, display, and distribute that content in connection with operating and promoting the Platform. You retain ownership of your content and may remove it by deleting the relevant listing or account.

Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

The Platform is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. JoyRidr does not warrant that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components.

JoyRidr is a platform that facilitates connections between asset owners and members. We are not a party to any booking transaction and are not responsible for the condition, safety, legality, or suitability of any asset listed on the Platform. Members are solely responsible for ensuring their assets comply with all applicable laws, insurance requirements, and safety standards.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, JoyRidr's total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Platform shall not exceed the amount you paid to JoyRidr in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability for fraud, gross negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. You agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Ontario, Canada for the resolution of any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Platform.

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
