Overview
JoyRidr Inc. ("JoyRidr," "we," "us," or "our") operates the JoyRidr platform — a membership-based recreational asset exchange club available at joyridrclub.com and related subdomains. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have regarding your data.
By signing up for the JoyRidr waitlist or using any part of our platform, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.
Information We Collect
We collect information in three ways: information you provide directly, information collected automatically, and information from third-party services.
Information You Provide
When you join the JoyRidr waitlist or create an account, we collect your email address and, where indicated, your membership path preference (asset owner or browse-first). When you complete the full onboarding journey as a Path B member, we additionally collect your first and last name, phone number, mailing address, and profile photo.
Identity Verification Data
Full club membership (Path B) requires government-issued ID verification. This verification is conducted entirely through Stripe Identity, a service operated by Stripe, Inc. JoyRidr does not receive or store copies of your government ID. Stripe processes and retains this data in accordance with their own privacy policy.
Payment Information
Payment methods are collected and stored by Stripe, Inc. JoyRidr does not store full card numbers, CVV codes, or bank account details on our servers. We retain only a tokenized reference provided by Stripe.
Asset Information
Members who list recreational assets provide asset details including title, description, category, location, photos, estimated value, value documentation, nightly rate, capacity, and availability. This information is used to operate the platform and may be displayed publicly on asset detail pages.
Communications
We store messages sent between members through the in-platform booking messaging system. We also store reviews submitted after completed bookings.
Automatically Collected Information
When you visit our website, we automatically collect certain technical information including your IP address (used for approximate geolocation and currency detection), browser type, device type, pages visited, and referring URL. This data is collected via standard web analytics tools.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
To operate the platform. Your account information, asset listings, bookings, and messages are necessary to provide the core JoyRidr service.
To verify your identity. Government ID verification is required for full club membership to maintain the trust and safety of the community. This process is handled by Stripe Identity.
To process payments. Your payment method is used to charge annual membership fees at launch and to process booking-related fees. Stripe handles all payment processing.
To communicate with you. We send transactional emails for critical platform events including account creation, identity verification status, asset approval or rejection, booking confirmations and cancellations, payment receipts, and membership status changes. These emails are sent via Amazon Web Services Simple Email Service (AWS SES).
To send marketing communications. With your consent at signup, we may send you updates about the platform, new assets, and launch progress. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any marketing email.
To sync with our email marketing platform. We share certain contact data — including your email, name, membership path, verification status, asset count, currency preference, discount tier, and membership status — with our email marketing provider to send you relevant communications. We use an abstract integration layer, meaning we may change providers without changing what data is shared.
To detect your currency preference. We use your IP address to auto-detect whether to display pricing in USD or CAD. You can change this preference at any time in your account settings.
To improve the platform. Aggregated, anonymized usage data helps us understand how members use JoyRidr and where we can improve.
To enforce our policies. Account information is used to investigate and resolve disputes, enforce our Terms of Service, and maintain platform safety.
Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services. If you request account deletion, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal, tax, or fraud-prevention purposes.
Booking records and financial transaction data may be retained for up to seven years to comply with applicable tax and accounting regulations. Reviews are retained as part of the platform's trust and safety record and may remain visible after account deletion in anonymized form.
Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:
Access. You may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
Correction. You may update or correct inaccurate information through your account settings or by contacting us.
Deletion. You may request that we delete your personal information, subject to legal retention requirements described above.
Portability. You may request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
Opt-out of marketing. You may unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email, or by contacting us directly.
Withdraw consent. Where we rely on your consent to process data, you may withdraw that consent at any time.

California Residents. If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know, delete, and opt out of the sale of personal information. JoyRidr does not sell personal information.
Canadian Residents. If you are a resident of Canada, your data is handled in accordance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy laws.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These measures include encrypted data transmission (HTTPS), tokenized payment storage via Stripe, and access controls limiting who within JoyRidr can access member data.
No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children's Privacy
JoyRidr is not directed at children under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected information from a minor, we will delete it promptly. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email and update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
